1000 petty traders benefit from Kwara First Lady #50m RHI’s grant
It was a joyful moment for all petty traders in Kwara generally as the First Lady to the governor of Kwara state Her Excellency Professor Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, which on the 22nd of August, 2024, launches the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Economic Empowerment Program to help foster the growth of their business.
This initiative program was introduced by the First Lady of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, focusing at financially developing the businesses of over 1000 women petty traders across the 36 states of the federation including the Federal capital Territory, Abuja. During the launch, 1000 women received the recapitalization grants from the founder of Ajike Support Centre
Ably represented by the state cordinator of Renewed Hope Initiative and Chairperson of Nigeria Governors Spouses Forum, Professor Olufolake, Senator Remi Tinubu, the government dedication to advancing women’s interests was highlighted, with a particular focus on economic empowerment. She emphasized the crucial need to empower women, acknowledging their unwavering dedication and impressive accomplishments in diverse business sectors

Senator Oluremi Tinubu also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for offering significant funding support through diverse initiatives and empowerment programs. The First Lady reaffirmed those traders present at the event of the government’s willingness to continue supporting their businesses and also giving them a conducive business environment.
The First Lady announced that a total of #50 million have been distributed across the 36 states and FCT, benefiting shortlisted women petty traders with #50,000 each to enhance their businesses. She also voiced concerns about the obstacles women entrepreneurs face and reaffirmed her commitment to creating ongoing opportunities for their growth and success.
In attendance to grace the event was some of the dignitaries present, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, the spouse of the Chief Justice of Kwara State, Chairperson House Committee on Women Affairs, members of the State House of Assembly, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Secretary to Kwara State Government, State Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Assistants to the Governor, APC women leader and executives, and top government ally among others.
The event was also graced by women’s groups and associations, the youth in the state, the media, members of civil society organizations, the beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Initiative, and voluntary organizations. The list is inexhaustible.
