#200m scholarship fund launched by Kwara senator for needy students.
Kwara Central Senator, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has announced an annual scholarship fund of over #200 million to support 200 needy students from undergraduate admission to graduation.
A statement issued by Senator Mustapha’s media office in Abuja indicated that the beneficiaries of the scholarship will be selected from the four local government areas that make up the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
The scholarship scheme is designed to ease the financial strain on families, empowering gifted but financially challenged students to pursue their academic dreams without excessive stress.
Professor Binta Sulyman, Chairperson of the Kwara Central Educational Ad-hoc Advisory Committee, provided an overview of the initiative’s scope and objectives.
She disclosed that the selected students would attend any of five Kwara-based private institutions, including Al-Hikma University, Kwara State University (KWASU), Summit University, Offa; and Ahman Pategi University, Patigi, among others.
Mallam Tunde Abdulrahman, legislative aide to Senator Mustapha, noted that the scholarship program is a fulfillment of the senator’s campaign promises to the youth and constituents of Kwara Central.
He noted that the initiative is consistent with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reinforces Governor Abdulrazaq’s education-focused initiatives in Kwara state, particularly in upgrading educational facilities.
“For the smooth execution of this programme, a team of top educationists, academicians, and stakeholders, led by Professor Sulyman, has been constituted to establish clear guidelines for its success,” Abdulrahman said.
He also encouraged the prospective beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity presented to them.
