On Friday, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administered the oath of office to six new high court judges, bringing the total number of judges sworn in during his administration to 11 since 2019.

Governor Abdulrazaq hailed the occasion as a significant milestone, underscoring his administration’s dedication to ensuring access to Justice, upholding fairness, and promoting the rule of law.

“This also makes a total of 11 High Court Judges whose oath of office I have administered within five years in office,” he stated.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed judges and their families, adding, “I also celebrate your hard work and other noble qualities that brought you here.

“Today, you have been entrusted with the immense responsibility of upholding justice and ensuring that the rights of every citizen are protected.

“I am confident that you will discharge your duties with diligence, impartiality, and with the overriding interest of the community and national security.

“As you take on this noble task, remember that your decisions will shape the lives of individuals and the fabric of our society. Let me remind you of the remarkable words of Usman Dan Fodio, who said that ‘a kingdom can endure unbelief, but it cannot endure injustice.’”

“I assure you of our continuous support and cooperation to ease your task. Our administration has renovated and remodeled several courts within the state.

“Recently, I approved the reconstruction of the former Revenue Court at GRA Ilorin to serve as courtrooms for more judges, while also creating a more befitting environment for the Revenue Courts in the state.

“It is our desire that this will be followed, all things being equal, with the construction of a new court complex to ensure the state has befitting courtrooms.

“Official SUVs have since been procured for the use of the newly appointed judges. A seamless working relationship between the two arms of government has ensured timely payments of allowances and entitlements to the judicial officers, among other things,” he added.

Governor Abdulrazaq praised the judiciary, legislature, and security agencies for their collaborative efforts in driving Kwara State’s development and ensuring the peace and security of its citizens.

He urged them to remain united in the pursuit of a greater Kwara State and Nigeria.
