Kwara Police arrest suspects, recover stolen car from Lagos
The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended two suspects and recovered a Toyota Camry with registration number APP 443 CX, which was reportedly stolen from a parking lot in Lagos.
The suspects, Gabiyu Lawal (43) of Babasoja, Gambari, Ilorin, and Ademola Waheed (45) of Sango Road, Ilorin, were arrested after the vehicle was intercepted, according to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi.
The arrests followed intelligence received from a motor spare parts dealer in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin. During a search of the vehicle, police discovered a GSM number linked to the car’s owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel of Badagry Road, Lagos.
“Upon contact, Mr. Abel confirmed the car had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos and reported the theft at Area C Police Command, Surulere,” DSP Ejire-Adeyemi stated.
The suspects admitted to purchasing the stolen vehicle at the suspiciously low price of ₦400,000, intending to resell it in Ilorin for ₦1 million.
The police spokesperson added that further investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices and uncover the full extent of the suspects’ criminal network.
The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
