As part of the recent postings and appointments approved by the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Nicholas Nemetne Rume has assumed duty as the 23rd Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, Kwara State.

He officially took over the command on October 22, 2025, during a colourful handing-over and taking-over ceremony held at the Brigade Headquarters between him and his predecessor, Brigadier General Ezra Bawa Barkins.

In his valedictory remarks, Brigadier General Barkins expressed gratitude to God and the Chief of Army Staff for the privilege to lead the Brigade. He lauded the officers and soldiers for their loyalty, professionalism, and dedication during his tenure, urging them to extend even greater support and cooperation to his successor.

The event featured the signing of official handover documents, a farewell address to troops, and the symbolic presentation of the Brigade flag to the new Commander.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the hoisting of the new Brigade flag at the Quarter Guard, marking the commencement of a new phase in the unit’s leadership.

The transition was formally announced in a statement by Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin.
