According to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), September 15, 2024, has been set as the commencement date for the lifting of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from the Dangote Refinery.

Adedapo Segun, Executive Vice President of Downstream at NNPCL, revealed on TVC News’ ‘Journalists’ Hangout’ show on Thursday that the company is expecting to start lifting petrol from the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery in Lagos on September 15, as announced by the refinery. This was disclosed in a statement by NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye.

His comments come as fuel scarcity lingers nationwide despite the recent price hike.

Segun said that NNPCL is collaborating with marketers to “ensure that stations open early, close late, to maintain adequate fuel supply to meet the needs of Nigerians.”

“We are also engaging relevant authorities to ensure product diversions are prevented and timely deliveries to all stations are ensured.

“The scarcity should ease in the next few days as more stations recalibrate and begin operations”, he announced to Nigerians.

Recall that Dangote Refinery on Wednesday denied claims that NNPCL has started lifting its petrol.

This follows the recent announcement by Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, that his refinery has started production.
