Kwara Govt calls on LGAs to support grassroots farmers with tractor services.
The Kwara State Government has called on local government authorities to deploy their recent acquired tractor to rural farmers, as a key component of its comprehensive plan to enhance food security across the state.
Hon. Abubakar Bata, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community, mentioned this on Friday while unveiling the tractors by the local councils, with each tractors coming with additional instruments such as ridger, plow, harrow and tractor trailer.
Bata hailed the local councils’ decision to procure tractors, seeing it as a wise use of their resources, and forecasting that the new tractors will have a profound impact on grassroots farming communities.
“The decision of the local councils to purchase these tractors and the many accessories is a thoughtful one, and I believe it goes to corroborate the position of His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that no one takes local council funds,” he said.
“We urge the local councils to endeavor to make these new tractors available for massive agricultural activities in their areas. We believe this will complement the massive investment of the state government in this regard.”
