Kwara Police rescue kidnap victim, arrest two suspects

The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim, Sule Saidu, who was abducted at Ahuro Fulani Camp in Ifelodun Local Government Area last Friday.

In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed that two key suspects had been arrested, and firearms were recovered during a swift operation conducted on Saturday.

Saidu was reportedly taken by five armed men at around 11 p.m. on February 28, 2025. Acting on intelligence received the following morning at about 7:06 a.m., a joint security team—comprising police detectives, local hunters, and vigilantes—launched a rescue mission.

The operatives intercepted the gang in the Babanla/Oreke area, leading to a gunfight. One of the kidnappers was neutralized, while two others, identified as 40-year-old Ibrahim Shehu and 25-year-old Mohammad Lawal, were apprehended. The remaining two suspects managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle and criminal charms from the suspects. However, the injured individuals later succumbed to their wounds while being transported to the hospital.

The Kwara State Police Command praised the bravery and swift action of its officers, alongside the crucial contributions of local hunters and vigilantes. Their coordinated efforts, the statement noted, continue to strengthen security and ensure the safety of residents.
