The Kwara State government has acquired 100 electric motorcycles to enhance public transportation in the region. This initiative is designed to help mitigate the effects of the recent fuel subsidy removal on commuters and transport operators.

During a media briefing held in Ilorin, the state capital, AbdulQowiy Olododo, the Commissioner for Works and Transports, emphasized the government’s commitment to providing relief to the public. He stated that the delivery of the electric motorcycles is forthcoming, following the recent commissioning of a compressed natural gas (CNG) conversion workshop and gas station in Ilorin.

“Kwara State has successfully commissioned a CNG conversion workshop and gas station as part of the presidential initiative aimed at alleviating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal,” Olododo explained. “Through the Ministry, we have procured 100 electric motorcycles, which we expect to receive soon.”

Additionally, Olododo reported that his ministry has completed 75 road projects and has another 52 currently in progress throughout the state. These projects encompass various activities, including rehabilitation, reconstruction, interlocking, and beautification efforts.
