Kwara State Governor Abdulrazaq suppprts two young athletes from Kwara in World Youth Scrabble Championships.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s administration sponsors two young scrabble players from Kwara State to compete in the 2024 World Yourh Scrabble Championship, representing Nigeria.

Aliu Abdulqudus Olawale and Olojoku Sufyan Boluwatife, two talented under-17 scrabble players known for their clever wordplay and ability to outmaneuver their opponents, are students at the renowned Government High School, Adeta Ilorin.

In 2023, Aliu Abdulqudus and Olojoku Boluwatife, two strategic scrabble players, secured gold for Kwara State at the 7th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, thanks to the rigorous training and preparation provided by the Kwara State Sports Commission.

The 2024 World Youth Scrabbe Championship (WYSC) is set o commence on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Sri Lanka, and Nigeria’s team, comprising Prestige Archibong, the reigning African Youth Scrabble Champion (WASC U-15), along with Olawale and Boluwatife, is in high spirits and ready for the competition.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s investment in sports has been yielding fruits in recent times with athletes from Kwara State shattering glass ceilings in different sports including Squash, Scrabble, Table Tennis, and Badminton among other sports.

Kwara-born Badminton sensation Eniola Mariam Bolaji, a beneficiary of Governor Abdulrazaq’s support, made headlines on Monday, September 2, 2024, by winning a medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, leaving the World in awe.

Bolaji, the first African to claim a badminton medal at the Olympic or Paralympic Games, expressed her gratitude to His Excellency Governor Abdulrazaq CON in an X post, crediting him for her inspiration as she reached a career-high World Number Two ranking.
