Starting from September 1, 2024, there will be an increase in the price of procuring Nigerian passport as it was announced by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

According to the NIS spokesman DCI Kenneth Udo, the fee increase is intended to uphold the quality and authenticity of the Nigerian passport.

He explained that the fee adjustment is a step towards maintaining the passport’s international compliance and security protocol.

“Following the review, the fee for a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity, previously set at Thirty-Five Thousand Naira (N35,000.00), will now be Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00). Similarly, the cost for a 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity, which was Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00), will increase to One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00).

“However, fees for passports issued in the Diaspora will remain unchanged,” he said.
