Three Suspects Remanded for Beheading Motorcyclist in Kwara
A Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has ordered the remand of three suspects accused of murdering a commercial motorcyclist and stealing his motorcycle.
The suspects, identified as Peter Samuel, Jeremiah Tiozina, and Sunday Agbenke, face charges of criminal conspiracy, theft, and unlawful possession of human parts.
According to the police report, the gruesome incident occurred in Asunnara village, where the headless body of a young man was discovered in a pool of blood around 2 a.m. Investigations revealed that Samuel and Tiozina had hired the services of the victim, Raufu Akanno, to transport them to and from the Olooru area for a fare of ₦10,000, paying an initial deposit of ₦5,000.
During the journey, Samuel allegedly tricked Akanno into stopping by claiming his cap had fallen off. The motorcyclist unsuspectingly complied, only to be ambushed. The suspects reportedly struck him with a stick and decapitated him before stealing his motorcycle.
Prosecutor Nasir Yusuf requested the court to order the suspects’ remand due to the severity of the crime.
Magistrate Saidu, presiding over the case, ruled that the suspects be held at the Oke Kura Federal Correctional Centre. The case was adjourned until December 23, 2024, for further proceedings.
