Turaki Women Mark Senator’s Birthday with Prayers, Correctional Centre Outreach
The Turaki Women’s Group celebrated the 53rd birthday of Senator Saliu Mustapha (Kwara Central) with a dual program of prayers and community outreach. The events began with a special prayer session at the senator’s constituency office in Fate, Ilorin.
Led by renowned cleric Sheikh Abdulkadir Omo Alubarika, the gathering attracted notable personalities and well-wishers from across Kwara State.
In a goodwill message, the group’s leader, Alhaja Shakirat Adeleke, praised Senator Mustapha for his dedication to community development, his support for youth, and his accessible, inspirational leadership.
After the prayers, the women visited Okekura Correctional Centre, where they donated essentials food items. They also paid ₦100,000 to secure the release of an inmate who had been unable to meet his bail conditions, gave him transport fare home and offered similar assistance to a stranded couple inside the facility.
The Comptroller of the Correctional Centre, ACC Raji Abdulkareem Adisa thanked the group for “remembering the forgotten”, expressed gratitude for the donations and confirmed the inmate’s release. He also commended Senator Mustapha for his consistent efforts in human capital development and wished Senator Mustapha “continued wisdom in serving humanity.”
