Wike: I’m not double-faced — Explains why He hacked Tinubu over Atiku

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has rejected accusations of being double-faced in his political dealings, particularly regarding the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike said he was transparent from the onset about his decision not to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I take exception to people saying I’m double-faced. We must learn to appreciate those who say what they mean and stand by it,” Wike stated.
He clarified that his stance was rooted in his belief in equity, fairness, and justice, insisting that the presidency in 2023 should have gone to the South. According to him, his decision to support President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) aligned with these principles.
“I made it clear from day one that I would not back Atiku. I did not attend their meetings only to do something different behind the scenes. I took a position and stood by it,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor emphasized that his choice was guided by who, in his view, had the capacity to win and move the country forward.
“I asked myself: who from the South has the best chance of winning and the ability to improve Nigeria’s situation? Based on my judgment, that person was Tinubu — and I was right. He won the election,” Wike added.
