“Today, I presented a motion addressing the urgent need to tackle the emerging outbreak of Diphtheria in Nigeria. Under the guidance of the Speaker, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the House has called upon the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Health to take immediate action in containing the outbreak of diphtheria, aiming to effectively reduce the fatality ratio in confirmed cases.

Additionally, the House has tasked the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) with the responsibility of ensuring the availability of vaccines. Furthermore, NCDC have been mandated to intensify their sensitization and enlightenment campaigns in order to prevent and eliminate the spread of diphtheria and other related diseases across the country.”
