Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara expressed satisfaction with voter turnout in the local government elections across 16 LGAs, stating democracy is now firmly established

Abdulrazaq praised the voting process on Saturday in Ilorin, immediately after casting his ballot at his family home in the Idigba polling unit 004, Adewole Ward, Ilorin West LGA, at approximately 10:55 a.m.

He described the conduct of the election as peaceful, saying “from what we can see here, the turnout is very okay; democracy has come to stay”.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the security personnel for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the momentum.

Majeed Bolakale-Podo, the APC chairmanship candidate for Ilorin South Local Government, praised the election process, calling it peaceful and well-organized.

“Everything is going on smoothly. There’s not been any complaints in all the wards in Ilorin South. It has been peaceful and orderly so far,” he said.

Majeed Bolakale-Podo, the APC candidate for Ilorin South LGA, outlined his vision for constituents if elected, vowing to build upon Governor AbdulRazaq’s impressive legacy.

Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Okanla, Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), attributed the delays in starting elections at some polling stations to logistical issues. He explained that some vehicles transporting election materials broke down, causing delays, but assured that the situation was quickly resolved.

He said: “Some circumstances can cause delay. Some of the vehicles conveying election materials to polling units broke down and we’ve found ways to amend the situation.

“You can see in this area now, normalcy has returned. In some of the places we’ve visited, there was no problem.

“It’s just that there was a late arrival of materials. But as soon as we got there, situations were improved upon.
