Kwara Governor swears in two Commissioners, reshuffles cabinet

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as commissioners, while also implementing a cabinet reshuffle within the State Executive Council (SEC).
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, AbdulRazaq urged the newly appointed commissioners to embrace teamwork and align with the administration’s vision to sustain progress across various sectors.
Dr. Olohungbebe has been assigned to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, while Dr. Nnafatima Imam will oversee the Ministry of Social Development.
As part of the cabinet reshuffle, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, the former Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Tertiary Education. Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Arinde, previously in charge of Tertiary Education, now heads the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
In a structural expansion of governance, Aliyu Kora Sabi has been appointed Commissioner for the newly established Ministry of Transportation. Additionally, Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo has been moved from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.
Dr. Afeez Abolore, formerly the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, now leads the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Similarly, Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh has been appointed to oversee the Ministry of Social Development.
Governor AbdulRazaq described the newly appointed commissioners as deserving of their elevations from previous roles as Senior Special Assistants, emphasizing the importance of dedication, integrity, and collaboration in governance.
“Today marks not just the beginning of a new chapter for the commissioners but also a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kwara State with vision and integrity,” he stated.
He highlighted his administration’s achievements in key sectors, including public education, healthcare, infrastructure, rural and urban development, social inclusion, and wealth redistribution.
“As you step into your new roles, I urge you to embrace creativity, remain connected with the people, think outside the box, and exercise prudence in decision-making,” the governor advised.
AbdulRazaq congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence in their ability to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
