The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has dismissed allegations of inadequate welfare for its personnel, describing them as misleading and a deliberate attempt to undermine the corps’ progress.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Ilorin, the command’s spokesperson, Ayoola Michael Shola, stated that the claims were baseless and aimed at discrediting the achievements made under the leadership of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

The statement clarified that many of the challenges mentioned in the allegations were inherited by the Commandant-General. However, through his leadership, significant progress has been made to address these issues.

“There is no longer any backlog of promotion arrears, as these have been resolved by the Federal Government in phases. Peculiar allowances are now reflected in monthly salaries, and the implementation of the new minimum wage has been concluded, with payments set to commence shortly,” the statement read.

Shola further noted that sector officers recently attended briefings in Abuja ahead of their new postings, with all necessary remunerations provided. He emphasized that the welfare of junior officers has consistently been prioritized by the Commandant-General.

The Kwara Command, led by Commandant Umar Mohammed, reaffirmed its commitment to personnel welfare and efficient operations, rejecting the allegations as unfounded and unrepresentative of the corps’ current state.

The command also revealed that investigations are underway to uncover those behind the “malicious” claims.

“The corps strongly warns against attempts by mischief-makers and unprofessional officers acting as tools for criminal elements to malign the organization. Such actions will not be tolerated,” the statement concluded.
