The Kwara State Government has directed all public sector workers to register with the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency (KWSRRA) or risk forfeiting their November salaries and bonuses.

This mandate was announced by the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Babatunde Abdulrasheed, on Monday in Ilorin.

Dr. Nuru emphasized that the registration, which began in July, is essential for creating a comprehensive database of residents. She explained that KWSRRA is legally tasked with collecting data and assigning unique identification numbers to residents to enhance planning, resource allocation, service delivery, and public safety.

To ensure accountability and transparency in managing resources, the state government has instructed all public sector workers, including those in the 16 local government areas, to complete their registration.

“Starting November, any worker who has not registered will not receive salary payments or bonuses,” the commissioner warned.

Dr. Nuru stressed that the initiative is critical to strengthening the payroll system, enhancing service delivery, and fostering trust in governance.

The commissioner highlighted the importance of accurate and reliable data for effective governance.

“The integrity of our data impacts all financial and administrative systems. A complete database enables us to make informed decisions, allocate resources effectively, and ensure fair and accurate compensation for eligible workers,” she explained.

State employees yet to register have been urged to visit the nearest KWSRRA center without delay to complete their enrolment.

“This directive is a step towards establishing a more efficient and equitable system for both the workforce and residents of Kwara State,” Dr. Nuru added.

The initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to improved accountability, effective resource management, and enhanced service delivery to its residents.
