Police dismiss claims of bandits relocating to Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that bandits fleeing Zamfara State have settled in Bani community, Baruten Local Government Area.
In response to an online report published on Sunday, which claimed that armed bandits from Zamfara had relocated to Kwara, the state police spokesperson, SP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, issued a statement refuting the claim.
“The attention of the Kwara State Police Command has been drawn to a report alleging that armed bandits fleeing military offensives in Zamfara State have relocated to Bani town in Kwara. The Command categorically debunks this claim as false and misleading, designed to cause unnecessary panic among residents,” the statement read.
Ejire-Adeyemi emphasized that there is no intelligence or operational report to support the presence of bandits in the area. She reassured the public that security agencies remain vigilant, with heightened surveillance across the state to prevent any security threats.
Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, reiterated that Kwara remains safe and that the police are fully prepared to handle any potential security concerns. He urged residents to disregard unverified reports and refrain from spreading misinformation.

The police reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and security in Kwara State.
